Peer Groups by Asset Size

Banks are grouped by total assets using the same asset-size bands the FDIC uses in its Quarterly Banking Profile, so every ranking compares an institution against peers of similar scale.

Community banks serving defined local and regional markets.

$100M - $1B in assets

Includes: $1B-$3B, $3B-$10B

$10B - $250B in assets

What about banks under $100M?

Banks below $100M in total assets (the FDIC's smallest asset-size band) receive metric rankings but are excluded from performance signature scoring. At that scale, the patterns our signatures look for (margin compression, deposit franchise strength, credit risk growth, etc.) fire too noisily to be reliable. These banks still appear in asset-filtered leaderboards and have their own scorecard pages.
